From the company that brought us the Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner now comes the Looj Gutter Cleaning Robot and the ConnectR Virtual Visiting Robot that allows you to remotely (and virtually) buzz around your house (albeit at carpet level) and see, hear, and say hi from afar.

The ConnectR features a top-mounted, full tilt-and-zoom video camera, speaker, microphone and headlight to enable you to see, hear and interact with people in your home. IRobot says the ConnectR will connect with wireless network at the same time allowing busy family members to connect with kids, grandchildren, friends, and pets.

It’s a vintage Vietnam era Hi-8 camera for sale fashioned with a rifle stock back and was allegedly made for a military reporter. The rifle part, besides looking really freakin’ awesome, probably would be pretty helpful in stabilizing the camera to get a steady shot since it’s generally used to stabilize rifles for a steady shot. I would have to question the wisdom of heading out into a warzone (or anywhere really) with a camera that looks like gun. And I doubt you could get this thing past airport security! It comes with a black case and 5x lenses and I would assume the manual too (since it’s pictured).

Nokia N95 8GB: disponibile il firmware 31.0.015

Soltanto una settimana fa è arrivato a casa mia il Nokia N95 8GB. Il dispositivo mi era stato consegnato aggiornato all'ultimo firware disponibile, che, allora, era il 30.0.018, che, vi ricordo, era ancora hackerabile.

Questo pomeriggio, però, Nokia ha reso disponibile il download del nuovissimo firmware 31.0.015, disponibile al momento solo per i dispositivi NoBrand.

Il changelog non è ancora stato reso disponibile, quindi non sappiamo quali siano le migliorie apportate. Ad ogni modo, l'unica cosa certa è che l'hack non è più possibile. Dunque, aggiornando a questo nuovo firmware, non potremo più installare i nostri programmi in libertà, così come non potremo più accedere alle cartelle di sistema. Insomma, per ora l'unica cosa certa è che questo firm ha un grosso difetto. Speriamo che nel changeloc compaia qualche grosso pregio, in modo da compensare la mancata possibilità di hack, altrimenti penso che ben poche persone aggiorneranno.
